Connecting Verses & Linking Scenes
Connecting Verses allows users to navigate between different locations within the Metaverse. By linking multiple Verses together or transitioning between scenes within a project, you can create interactive multi-room environments.
Why Connect Verses?
- Expand your virtual world by linking multiple Verses together.
- Create multi-room environments for events, exhibitions, or story-driven experiences.
- Design complex interactions by guiding users through different spaces dynamically.
🔹 Pro Tip: Use scene connections to create puzzle rooms, guided experiences, or virtual museum tours.
Step 1: Creating Verses
If you plan to connect multiple Verses, start by creating each Verse separately before linking them together.
How to Create a Verse:
Create a Verse from the Editor
- Open your project in XR Creator Studio.
- Launch your project with the ‘Deploy to Metaverse’ option.
- Click ‘Open on Web Browser’ to enter a Verse.
- Save the Verse URL for later use.
🔹 Pro Tip: Repeat this process for each Verse you want to include in your connected world.
Step 2: Linking Verses
You can connect existing Verses directly within the Metaverse interface using different linking methods.
Method 1: Adding a 2D Portal View
A 2D portal icon lets users see a preview of the linked Verse before jumping in.
How to Add a 2D Portal View:
- Open the Verse where you want to add a link.
- Copy the URL of the destination Verse.
- In the Verse Settings, expand the Advanced Settings dropdown.
- Paste the URL into ‘Add a portal to another Metaverse’.
- A 2D icon with the title and image of the linked Verse will be generated.
🔹 Best for: Quickly linking multiple Verses with a simple visual cue.
Method 2: Creating an Image Link
This method generates a screenshot-based portal for users to jump between Verses.
How to Add an Image Link:
- Open the Verse where you want to add the link.
- Copy the URL of the destination Verse.
- Inside the current Verse, paste the URL using Ctrl/Cmd + V.
- The system automatically generates a preview image with a Jump link.
🔹 Best for: Providing a visual preview of the next Verse, ideal for museum galleries, storefronts, or interactive spaces.
Method 3: Uploading a Custom 3D Object as a Portal
Use custom 3D objects (e.g., doors, teleporters, signs) as interactive portals to other Verses.
How to Add a 3D Object as a Portal:
- Open the Verse where you want to add the portal.
- Go to the Upload Tool in the toolbar.
- Click ‘File’ and upload a 3D object or image.
- Copy the destination Verse URL.
- In the upload form, click ‘Advanced Options’ and paste the Verse URL.
- Choose between:
- Hiding the Jump button (making the entire object clickable).
- Keeping the Jump button visible.
- Click Upload.
🔹 Best for: Creating immersive, themed transitions between Verses using custom-designed portals.
Method 4: Linking Verses in XR Creator Studio
You can also add Verse connections directly inside your XR Creator project using the Link Element.
How to Link a Verse in XR Creator Studio:
- Create a new project in XR Creator Studio.
- Add a Link Element from the Elements panel.
- Position the link element where you want the portal to appear.
- Copy the URL of the destination Verse.
- Paste the URL into the ‘Link Element URL’ property.
🔹 Best for: Structured, pre-designed experiences where navigation is built into the scene.
Creating Two-Way Portals for Better Navigation
For smooth exploration, ensure that each Verse links back to the previous one.
Why Use Two-Way Links?
- Prevent users from feeling stuck in a one-way portal.
- Create looping navigation for persistent, connected spaces.
🔹 Pro Tip: If you create a main hub, link all Verses back to the hub to ensure easy navigation.
